Applying Nail Polish the Right Way

Nail polish is very popular to teenagers, adults and surprisingly, some children, too. Of course it is better to wait for an appropriate age to apply nail polish so at least it looks appropriate and professional looking if needed. Nail polish can add class and style to any woman that wears it. You do not necessarily have to buy expensive nail polish as nobody will know how much it really is. The important thing is how it looks like after you apply it. With practice, any woman can learn the right strokes and designs in manicure. First, you must know the basics in self-manicure.

You must have materials such as the nail polish, nail polish remover, cotton, cuticle trimmer and stick, cuticle oil and moisturizers for your hands and nails. If you have old nail polish, be sure to remove it completely using a cotton ball and the nail polish remover. Run the cotton to the edges of your nails to make sure nothing is left. This is to make sure that the new nail polish will be applied evenly and will not easily chip off.

Once the old nail polish has been removed, then it’s time to apply cuticle oil on the cuticles. Carefully massage it in to moisturize it. Just leave it on while you start filing your nails. File your nails only in one direction to avoid uneven edges. After this, wash your hands quickly to clean your nails and cuticles.

You can either cut your cuticles or push them back. Remove hang nails as you are doing this and trim them with the cuticle cutter. You are now ready to paint your nails. Brush your nails with several thin coats as this style of application makes it last longer. Two to three coats nail polish will do for a solid color. If some of the nail polish went to your skin, you can use a cotton swab to remove this.
